San
Antonio, Texas artist Leticia Venegas Huerta earned her first bachelors degree
in biology at St. Mary's University in San Antonio. She then went on to pursue
art by earning a B.F.A. in painting at the University of Texas in San Antonio,
and an M.F.A. at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Of this print, Huerta
says the center image is from a photograph, a self-portrait taken some time
ago. The roses are an image that she has used before, referring to womanhood.
This print refers to death, grief, sickness, age, and prayers. |
